Well, I cannot recall the exact term when I signed up to Fastmail, I do know I have a free account with 25 MB storage and an inactivity limit of 120 days. So I guess that would make it a Guest Account, even though cannot remember that exact term.
But oh well, it seems free accounts will remain free for those who already used them prior to suspending new free sign-ups. |

Vivaldi.net
As you might know, MyOpera (mail) will end at march 1, 2014 and many users look for an alternative.
The co-founder of Opera J. S. v Tetzchner and some former employees set up a new home for all of those who are looking for a new place similar to the old my.opera. Also a mail service (not subscribed yet) is part of it. What do you think? |

A nice simple Roundcube interface.
Just signed up for an account, regarding the information to register, you can be creative. They ask for address, but only necessary to flag the country to proceed. Wonder what the mailbox size is? |

Slightly OT: Since the mail there is Roundcube, it looks like Vivaldi won't be using the present MyOpera email interface. And since Opera itself won't be using it after March, I do hope FM can have it (or will at least bother to ask for it!) and adapt it as an alternate theme for their own webmail! (Why in the world let a nice, attractive theme like that go to waste?) |

Cool that he has set up such service.
https://vivaldi.net/ How is he able to give us ad free email? Usually free emails are payed by the ads ? Another thing to wonder about. Why do they need every little detail about us? If I get them correctly they say this is a must or obligatoy or else no account get created? They had a star * but I saw no explanation what it meant Last edited by drew : 20 Dec 2013 at 08:12 PM. Maybe I should sign up with Vivaldi then.
That opera shutdown all services means their very good mini-opera program for smartphones also will be shut down. I liked that service so sad it has to end. |

Just signed up...looks nice. If this works aswell as the old myopera I am a very happy man.
What seems strange is that they say on their site the company is situated in Iceland...wereas a test email from the webmail shows an IP from Germany. How is this to explain?? Thanks Dutchie. |

The vivaldi.net DNS and email setup is lacking a bit. Only one MX entry is found in the DNS records (two or more is recommended). The outgoing SMTP greeting isn't exactly correct, so reverse DNS tests may fail. Messages sent to postmaster and abuse are not accepted, so the standard method of informing their staff of abuse or other difficulties with their domain is not possible. They use a Roundcube webmail system. Bill |

1. The free services serve as advertising (and testbed) for the paid services, or 2. it is not expected to be profitable under the present conditions. The founders expect to get their profit by selling the whole business, even before it becomes profitable. The old dot-com eyeball game. Quote:
