How do I copy messages to another folder

I would like to be able to copy selected incoming messages to a named folder whilst leaving the original message in the gnereal inbox. However, I cannot find an option to do so.

I can move selected incoming messages to another folder, but this deletes the message from the general inbox.

Is there a way to achieve my objective?

Thanks.

If you are using the webmail interface you can not copy messages, only move them.

You can copy messages if you use an IMAP client such as Thunderbird or Outlook Express.

Thanks for your reply.

It's a shame that you can't copy messages from the webmail interface; it seems like an obvious option to offer (to me at least).

May I ask how you can copy messages using an IMAP email client?

Thanks.

Most webmail interfaces don't have a "copy" feature. I don't think Yahoo, Gmail or MSN/Hotmail have a "copy" for messages.

Could you just forward yourself the message?

IMAP is a different approach to mail handling. In IMAP you can't move messages but you can copy them. So to move a message it copies the message to the destination folder then marks the original message for deletion.

The IMAP email client program, such as Thunderbird or Outlook / Outlook Express will give you the option to move or copy your messages.
