Working for me in the northeast USA. Based on the status page it appears to have happened while I was sleeping: 1:30am-6am.

The Google status page reports that it is coming back up, and over here in the USA appears to be working normally for me. Be thankful that with billions of users, status pages, etc. you will always know what is happening with Gmail and other Google products. I've been using Gmail since 2006 and can't remember any downtime more than a few hours, and those have been rare. Never lost an email that I know of either.

Various Google services (including Gmail) are experiencing outages in some areas tonight (evening in the US). At this time, I'm not personally seeing any issues, but I'm in one of the areas which is largely unaffected.

I'm in one of the regions shown on the map but haven't noticed anything, but it is early in the morning here. Here's one news report on the issues: https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/0...own-right-now/
