I use GMX very seldom and
I am not good at remembering details. I will most likely not use it in future unless the other services stop working and GMX.com is the only free left to use. That so few has responded can be due to few are active reading? |

I suspect that few use GMX as production e-mail, for many reasons, and so they have little to say, instead just taking your message as another warning against trusting them.
GMX may have a very Teutonic approach to support -- "We have always done the best thing, and anyone who disagrees is a whiner who could not follow the rules and deserves what they got" -- but what force do you think would have them change this? It's not like they have a big revenue stream, or even a large user community that brings up these issues. They don't appear to be selling hard for more market share, not trying to build a better reputation. Just what motivation does GMX have for satisfying users? I'm not sure that I know. |

I found GMX to be unreliable and having no mobile interface makes it totally useless. I'm not even sure why they exist.

As a person who usually opens and reads all forum threads, I will mention that this one is the exception, that today is the first time that I have opened it, that I decided many moons ago thet GMX was not worth reading about.
It could be 'my bad' possibly |

If you're serious about your e-mail, you cannot seriously consider using GMX.
I've just logged in to my GMX account, that I've not used in some time. Long, long ago, I received far too much SPAM - so much so IMHO the account was unusable. To get around the SPAM, I whitelisted some often used addresses, and blacklisted EVERYTHING else. I checked the box "Decline receipt, do not deliver e-mails". But today, there are 55 e-mails in the SPAM folder! Case closed. |

GMX.net is great (and GMX.com probably is not). I think I have had an account there for about 13 years.

I once made the mistake of setting up an email account with GMX for a friend to use for her business. Shuuuuuuder. WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE. |

If you do this sort of thing you should be having your friend pay the small amount to own their own domain. It's about $10/yr at Namecheap.com for example. That, in your simple life, probably would amount to the best decision of it. Owning your own domain lets you transparently take your mail to the next provider.

I am kinda surprised how bad you all feel about GMX(.com). I've created an account there a month ago, the webmail interface is fast and full of nice tools a lot other - non-free - providers lack, like per folder options, aliases, autoresponder, etc.
It has pop and imap, mobile interface, calendar, file storage for sharing and all free. |

Anyway I think gmx.net is good. I have an account on them for 7 years, met no problem.
