Arrow Pricing Policy Change

Hello,

FYI

As a result of this thread:

http://www.emaildiscussions.com/show...634#post503634

I did some digging around-

There has been a change to the pricing policy by Fastmail/ Opera

I hope an official statement regarding this issue will be made in the near future

Buy Mailbox / File Storage Space

You have previously bought additional storage for a once-only fee. We have since changed our pricing policy, and additional storage is now charged a smaller, recurring annual fee. You may continue using your existing storage for as long as you like without incurring additional fees.
However, if you wish to purchase more, then you will need to 'convert' your existing storage - we will fully refund your 'old-style' storage, and replace it with 'new-style' storage. The difference between these amounts will remain in your account pool, and can be used for renewals.
NOTE: Once you 'convert' your storage, you cannot go back to the 'old-style' storage.

Has anyone else seen this before?

David

No. I'm now seeing it for the first time. An extra 1000 MB costs $4.95/year.

Is paying a yearly fee for storage common among other e-mail providers?

Just curious

Many services, especially those offering online backups, development tools and storage, have historically charged annual fees either for the base offering or for higher storage tiers.

I feel vindicated now as I saw this coming a while back.

I purchased 1gb additional storage and a whole lot of bandwidth on my member account. So I dont think I will need to be upgrading for a while now.

rgds.

I feel silly, but can't seem to find the link in my account (Family/Superior) where to purchase additional quota or bandwidth anymore?

I already have some one-time-paid extra storage, and wanted to check out the new annual rate.

For bandwidth, they don't have a system in place yet for the business/family accounts. If you contact support, they'll do it for you.

I assume it's the same case for quota.
