After the "account recovery team" had reviewed the request, I was able to log in and change the password to recover the account. Once I did this, I was able to go into the mail program and put in the IMAP settings and everything went back to working. I just wanted to put a detailed conclusion here in case anyone has a similar problem in the future and can find the answer. You should have seen my dads face. He was so happy.
