Fastmail Inbox emptied by itself.
Today my inbox emptied without me making this move myself. Any ideas as to why this happened? I did not move them or delete them. Lost some old messages that i wanted to keep. I tried to restore them but all of them did not restore. It says none have been deleted in the last 24 hours. What did I do to cause this to happen?

Otherwise, the only people possibly able to work out what happened are Fastmail Support. You need to ask them if they can tell what happened, but also whether they can restore mails from some other backup. |

When this happens, it is virtually always a result of some activity by an external mail client. In the past, this was often because an external mail client was set up to retrieve messages from Fastmail using POP.
The first thing to do is search for one of the emails that you know for certain was among those that disappeared. Perhaps, the message still exists somewhere else. I assume you already checked the Trash folder. If the messages are still missing,
This shows you everywhere your account has been accessed within the last four weeks. If there is any connection that mentions POP, that will be the cause of the problem. Otherwise, look through the recent sessions, and see if they all are from devices you own or used. Act accordingly. |

This is why I always disable POP3. You never know what mail apps default to.
I'm using gmail & outlook, can't remember if fastmail had that option. |

POP 3 does not delete from the server if you tick the box....the others can be a nuisance.
