Question Closting Yahoo Mail Without Closing Yahoo Account - Is it possible?

The following thread explains how to close a Yahoo! Account Completely:

However, if you use the following procedure:

4. Under [ CLOSING MY ACCOUNT ] select [ How do I close my Account ]
5. New screen with your account information will show up.
6. Enter your PASSWORD
7. Press YES [ Terminate This Account ]
NOW YOUR YAHOO ACCOUT IS HISTORY !!!!!
This will close the account entirely (It will close mail, your profiles, calendar, address book, groups, geocities, my yahoo etc).

Here's what I would like to do:

I would like to close only my Yahoo! Mail account but maintiain my other yahoo properties such as geocities, groups, calendar, IM, etc. However, I really want the email account terminated so that the address becomes invalid.

It is possible to create a yahoo ID and have all properties without a Yahoo mail account, but the $64,000 question here is: Is it possible to close out only the Yahoo Mail part once it's been established without disturbing the other properties?

I don't see how. These services are just so interconnected under one account.

I think this would be one for yahoo support (if they'd answer your question even!)

I think yahoo support will probably answer this within the next 30 minutes or so right here in this thread. But then again, I'm looking out my window right now and I see pigs flying.

I think the only way to do this might be to have someone at Yahoo! Inc. go in and do it manually. Maybe when I have too much time on my hands, I might give Yahoo! Inc. a call and ask. If I get an answer, I'll post it here.

In the mean time, does anyone else know? Munchkin? esTester? Unhappysoul? Beuller? Anyone? Anyone?

(the above is a take off from Ferris Bueller's Day Off )

I would have to agree with Lisa on this. Once you activate part of the account then you cannot de-activate it because it is all the same account. I bet that Yahoo could do something about it pretty easily, but my guess is that they wouldn't. Who knows, it's worth a shot if you really wanted this mail account closed.
