I need help with a strange popup
I was told that this forum was a good place to post things not related to fastmail. If this post is inappropriate please help me find someplace else to post my question. I am sure there are other computer forums out there.
Every time I log onto my computer a strange pop up appears, and no mater what I do, it keeps poping up. I can X it out. but it returns again the next day. My husband found this site that tells just what to do. http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_d...runasshort.htm I did what it said to do. I was so happy to not have this thing hanging around anymore, but sadly It did not work. If any one can help I would be greatly appreciative. |

log into your computer in safe mode and use the fix
Whats happening is when logged in normally the trogen is protecting itself because in regular mode its able to load with other prograsms when you log in as safe mode it wont be able to start up and can easily be gotten rid of |

You will need to provide us with a little more information.
Your computer's OS is Windows XP? What is the actual pop-up - is it a missing shortcut, or something else - what does it say? |

This can get complicated try posting in a dedicated forum
NOTICES: Malware has progressed to the point where some infections can be extremely difficult to fully remove. And there can be residual left over damage to many aspects of the Windows Operating System that may also be very hard to repair. As such, the act of removing malware can sometimes cause unexpected problems due to how the malware has hooked itself into your operating system. While in most cases, we do not have problems, we cannot guarantee that there will not be any. Thus it would be a very good idea for you to begin by backing up all important personal information before undertaking the act of malware removal. You can bypass this step at your own risk, but remember that we cannot guarantee what the result will be from trying to remove malware from your PC. Also malware has progressed to the point where additional manual removal steps will almost always be required after completing the cleaning instructions given in this guide. So do not be surprised if you still have problems when you finish the instructions http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/foru...-removal-logs/ https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showforum=7 |

Try downloading spybot search and destroy from spybot.info that does offer a very good trojan removal option and also I think has a stealth option to ensure that it gets removed completely.
