What about Robin Hood and his BAND of Merry Men? I know that they aren't super heroes; but they are folk heroes... and I am sure that one of them likely has a corkscrew or a similar device!

Yes, it can be. I HOPE this definition: "to produce or contrive (something previously unknown) by the use of ingenuity or imagination" (source) will convince you.
