Maybe the gmx.co.uk accounts can add/delete aliases? I had a little trouble getting IMAP working, but after I exited and restarted Outlook Express everything was okay. IMAP and POP work on standard (non-SSL) ports. SMTP on port 587 (non-SSL) with authentication works okay. (My ISP blocks port 25). |

It loads fast from here and it looks great! We can't competit with GMX's GUI
We are trying to compensate this with some other features. |

I used to have a GMX account many moons ago but haven't logged in for years.
So I signed up for a new account and I have to say the GMX beta looks really, really good! It has : A nice, clean user interface (probably based on AJAX) SMTP/POP3/IMAP 5GB storage for you mail Calender / Organiser features 1GB file storage Well worth signing up for an account in my opinion! |

he ?
gmx besides gmail the best email? jeffpan whats up ? are you not a yahoo mail fan? how can you say such a thing for me gmx is just a bad , slow , full of ad email service and it looks as a cheap clone of yahoo mail. yahoo has ads too, but never so much like gmx.and if you want to get rid of ads it is cheaper to get yahoo mail plus as to buy a adfree account at gmx. |

There seems to be no advertising banners in my gmx.com account. Do you see advertising when you use your gmx.com email account??

Yahoo is really full of AD, without smtp/pop3/imap,without forwarding. It's just a webmail. GMX is flowery much and stable much than yahoo.I can show a dozens of examples that yahoo delay message or reject the normal messages. But GMX doesn't (at least I didn't see it did in my last 2 years of using it). I'm not Yahoo fans, and maybe never. But I love GMX! |

I remembered that you recommend Arcor here, now I use it as a forward service, though its webmail is not good with much footags in the outgoing messages. But its forwarding combiled with its 15 alias accounts are pretty much good. Luzo has mentioned most the DE freemail providers have higher ranks than others, that's right, germany products are most good, like my germany car. |

So this is what they stick their non-German users with? Way, way, WAY too slow. Even with all the ads, gmx.NET loads a hundred times faster for me. And has many more useful features. Does this gmx.com even have the most basic filters? Not that I'm able to find. Which puts it about on a par with AOL/AIM as far as webmail goes IMO.
About the only things this has going for it, that I can see, are a good, short simple domain name (and a "good" user name, thanks to its being new) and possibly POP/IMAP if they work well. And a good amount of storage space, but no more than Hotmail has, and even being no big fan of Hotmail, IMO this makes Hotmail's web interface look great by comparison. At least with Hotmail I don't have to wait all day for page loads to do anything with it. Regarding the gmx.com webmail specifically, this all seems like much ado about (almost literally) nothing to me. A giant leap backward in terms of features and functionality. Okay so it's a simple and "pretty" interface -- when and if it finishes loading. |

I was wondering about the difference between the versions.
The English users get IMAP and more space. And possibly in the future, 10 aliases instead of 2. But, as far as speed and ease of use, the German webmail seems better. And I have to use Babel Fish with that. But, the English version is Beta, so maybe they are using us for testing before making any changes on to the German version. Possibly, they may even close registrations once they get a certain number of "test" accounts, a la MyRealbox. |
