Gmail Android app's Sent folder

When I connect the Gmail app on my Android phone to my Fastmail account via IMAP, messages I send from it are put in a 'Sent' folder in Fastmail that Gmail creates. This appears in Fastmail as a standard folder with a folder icon, separate from the "Sent" (Sent Items) special folder that has a paper plane icon.

Is it possible to configure the Gmail to save sent messages into the 'Sent Items' folder (which I believe is the real name of folder that appears as 'Sent' in the Fastmail UI)? I've not found a setting to control this in the Gmail app.
