Search box dissapearing while in use in Chrome

Hi all,

Weird behavior I've just noticed the last day or two.

When I try to use the web interface for searching email (upper right corner box), the box slides above the visible window before I can finish typing, and I can't seem to get it back.

No idea what might be causing this. It's keeping me from searching though, so is a significant problem.

Any ideas? Please also lmk if I'm not describing the problem adequately...

TIA

Search box is working fine for me in Chrome.
Stays where it is supposed to be.

I wonder if you have installed an Extension in Chrome recently (or maybe an update to an existing Extension), and perhaps this is the cause of the strange behaviour?

I use only the web interface (chrome) and do a lot of searches.
Always worked flawlessly for me ...

FM's search is one of its best features.

Thanks for answering, guys!

Your data points make me think that it might indeed be me, will report back if I figure out a culprit.

By any chance have you adjusted your screen zoom to 125% instead of 100%? I've seen that mess with interfaces like you describe.

The way you describe the search box (in the upper right) indicates that you have set your layout to Hide reading pane in the Settings>Preferences>Mail area. If you show the reading pane, the search box appears above the message list (in the upper center of the page). With either reading pane setting, I can't duplicate your complaint.

The width of the search box depends on:
  • The Fastmail theme you have chosen.
  • The width of the window as you have positioned it on the desktop.
  • The zoom setting (CTL+, CTL-, and CTL0 (control+zero key) to reset.
I can always scroll horizontally in the search box, no matter how much I enter. When I type into the search box, a pop-up appears below the search box which shows email address matches to that search term, a link to Advanced search..., and "Search for " followed by the characters you have typed. This last feature expands down (not up) for me if I enter more characters than will fit horizontally.
