I think the beginning the "invites" served a legitimate purpose... To ensure your product could scale. You could test your product slowly with invites.

Unfortunately, you are right in the sense that "marketers" grabbed hold of the idea and ran with it. Not to mention people wanting to copy what google did with gmail, spreading the word all over the net and off the net. Selling invites on ebay. lol

It would be interesting to know how many companies use "invites" in a legitimate way.

I don't care for invites either... I use a similar system for my product releases though.... not exactly the same though... normally just a "silent" release. Serves about the same purpose.

Yeah, you're right, my statement was a little too "sweeping". I guess it just comes from bad memories of the Gmail invites mania.

'normally just a "silent" release.' ...probably a much better approach.

First come, first serve

Mine worked in Opera main client right away with auto authentication.
have you tried to set it to plain text authentication in wlm.
I'm too lazy just now to set it up in wlm too.
worked a few seconds ago in opera today too.

I use the whole email address. What error code or text does it give?

As I remember that is what did happen to me when I chosed the
wrong authentication method in wml for eumx and gmx and many other accounts..

But I have not set zenbe in wml so I don't know how to help you.

If nobody give you a helpful answer do remind me on Sunday or Monday
and I will set it up in wml to see if I can reconstruct your error. In opera
zenbe works very fast doing pop3.

Heheh, I am not patient enough so I have set it up now on my
version of wlm but unfortunate that one is in Swedish.

I deleted it two times so I installed it three times and every time
it forced me to use swedish or to not use it at all so I will not have
the right key words only my crude translation ok.

I sent a test mail to it from hotmail and tell here the result when it arrive
and me have done a reply to it. I set it to plain text authentication for the test.

Yes arrived promptly so now I reply and look for error code.

Edit No error code so it maybe worked. I get back in trhee minutes to tell result.

my test mail from zenbe via smtp plain text port 465 and secure TSL did arrive in hotmail inbox
within trhee minutes.

So it should work for you too.

Sorry, my explanation is maybe not crystal clear, very fuzzy maybe but
it is all spelled out there. I use same program as you do and why would
it work here and not at your place?

You have checked to log in via the website so you know the password works?

did you set it to TLS 995 for pop? and plain text authentication if that is in options somewhere.

Maybe we have set up teh main options differently?

I wish somebody good at wlm could chime in and tell us what is going on.
If it works for me then it should work for you.

Do you have some advanced firewall that maybe don't like zenbe?

Hi Drew,
I can login to webmail no problem with password,I deleted my Zenbe account in WLM and then setup the account as instructed by you .The same problem continues as below
Unable to send or receive messages for the Zenbe account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR Maildir: No such file or directory
Server: 'pop.zenbe.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995
Secure(SSL): Yes

This is just too bad I I will discontinue with Zenbe for the time being as I have wasted enough time on it.I am thinking to shift over to GMX

I guess me failed to bring over the notion that authentication maybe should be in plain text methot. somethimes referred to as clear text.

I googled it now and found this advice.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/198704
Quote:
WORKAROUND
In Outlook Express, try using Clear Text, which is the Log on using option under the Servers tab of the mail account.

To do so:
1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts. This will bring up several tabs.
2. If you select any listed mail account, the properties will have a Servers tab with the Log on using option.
3. Select the Clear Text option.
If this works, then you were trying to access a non-existent mailbox or the wrong mailbox. If this does not work, then the administrator needs to check for and remove the custom recipient.

MORE INFORMATION
When a user tries to log on to Exchange Server with Outlook Express and Secure Password Authentication, the client will pass the credentials of the user logged on to the workstation.

If the logon works using the Clear Text option: <NT Domain/NT Account/Alias>, the user will have to change his or her mailbox alias to the Windows NT account name in order to use Secure Password Authentication. This is because Secure Password Authentication will not pass the mailbox alias information.

It defaults to <NT DOMAIN\NTACCOUNT> and Exchange Server assumes the alias to be the Windows NT account.
Way above my knowledge so not sure what that text tells you?

I guess you are totally fed up now and have given up on it though.
But the solution could be embarrassingly simple if one just give it
a new shot next day or two.

I failed to log in at yahoo y7mail in Australia. Took me one month to
remember the password. Not same problem you have but it shows
there is not need to give up. Just let it rest until you feel for it again.

Sorry if I sound overly optimistic but sometimes it is just a matter
of luck. If one try again some day later one suddenly get a hunch
to try out a small variation and that one works.
