Maildrop.cc Out for 3 days
Maildrop.cc Out for 3 days
This is a temp email site that I have used for quite some time. "504 Gateway Time-out" is what comes up after waiting for page to load. A 504 Gateway Timeout error, also called an HTTP 504 error, means that one server didn't receive a response from another quickly enough so it timed out. Anyone have any luck with this site. The site checking website says that it is OK and online? |

I use Maildrop.cc on a regular basis. Especially when I am testing out websites, forums, chat, and newsletters. I don't like all the spam and other mailings when you sign up for these types of services.
Mailinator works good as well. |

The DNS records look OK for that domain, and they seems to be accepting email sent to one of their SMTP addresses after greylisting (both spam prevention techniques). But the website is down.

Maildrop.cc Site still NO GOOD
The site came back online a few weeks after I posted this.
However it is totally nonfunctional. Email to the contact address bounces. Email to myself bounces. Am I the only one, other than the few replies here, that used this service? |

Drop it! And choose a reliable provider. There are plenty discussed here.

Dropped long ago
I dropped it back in May.
Just went back to see if it came back or not. Obviously not. |

Maildrop.cc
Why would you sign up to a service with a .cc extension? I personally would be deterred by that fact alone. If a company chooses the .cc extension to do business, then they have decided against using a .com which is the most popular domain name in use today.
I hope they are back up for you. |

Why would anyone sign up to a service with a .fm extension?

.fm extension

Most people that have successful businesses using extensions such as .fm likely hoped that they had secured a .com extension instead or at least in combination to their .fm or other tld. Thanks, |

Perhaps you should offer them advice on how to better utilize it? |

Fastmail owning fastmail.com is news to me!
http://whois.domaintools.com/fastmail.com shows that Rob N. is indeed the owner of that domain, and that it was updated a week ago (it does not indicate what the change was, though). I can't create an alias in the fastmail.com domain, so I'm not sure if this is a yet-to-be-announced acquisition? |

Who in their right mind...
Who in their right mind would use maildrop if messages can be viewed by other users and their is little security with regards to their messages. Also, messages are deleted automatically to make space for other messages based on the site. That's just ridiculous.
