This is an interesting article at PC World about Yahoo! planning to implement OpenPGP end-to-end message encryption

This is destined to fail for two reasons.

1. It's Yahoo
2. The majority of people are completely ignorant of the use of encryption and how it works.

I think you are correct about the majority of people not knowing how it works. PGP is a little complicated with the public and private keys and all

Reason 1 by itself is more than enough

I have to agree though.

It's a step. It will be interesting to see how this takes off. I don't use the web interface to Yahoo! Mail much, access my accounts via Claws Mail.
