Actually, flat earthers will simply dismiss the video as being CGI (as they do much in the ISS videos). The conspiracy element is a necessary component for them, as with their denial of space travel and moon landings. Other earth curvature noticed from planes, etc. they attribute to distortion in the lens. Just search you tube for "red bull flat earth" and see what you get.

Here's an older topic about the jump: click here
I believe there's been jumps from higher altitudes, but they weren't entirely free fall. Also, if I remember well, Baumgartner was the first to break the sound barrier. I'm not really a fan of the energy drink that sponsored this, but credit where credit is due: what Baumgartner accomplished here is amazing. There is a documentary that was on Belgian TV a while ago (it may be online somewhere floating around) showing the preparation for the jump ; Baumgartner trained for a really long time before attempting the jump. What he accomplished, was amazing, and other than the ego boost and record, he also brought a lot of scientific data so it was a quite scientifically useful jump too. Not just about breaking records. |

It was an old post, and I didn't mention the energy drink's name. Anyways, kudos to Felix Baumgartner for what he accomplished. Sure, the ego boost will have played its part, but the scientific data he collected meanwhile shouldn't be ignored.
