Mailbox.org under DDoS attack
Received an email from them warning that they are expecting DDoS attacks against them.
Quote: Dear customers of mailbox.org, since a few days there have been denial-of-service attacks against email providers worldwide. In other words, attacks that are intended to paralyze the servers of the providers concerned. - Last Thursday evening and briefly on Friday afternoon, such a DDoS attack was attempted against mailbox.org. At the same time, we received an email from the extortionists asking us to pay a ransom in Bitcoin. Which we will not do. mailbox.org has systematically prepared for possible DDoS attacks in order to be able to parry them. However, whether you have thought of everything is only shown in an emergency. Unfortunately, there were brief disruptions to our service on Thursday and Friday. We were able to adapt our systems and improve them permanently, so our systems ran reliably as always, despite the ongoing attack. As we are expecting *more and larger attacks* in the coming days, we would like to inform you in our blog article about the background and possible effects and ask for your understanding should there be any disruptions to our service in the coming days. *Please note* * If we cannot be reached as usual or if you cannot access your e-mails, please try again at a later point in time. * E-mails sent to you will not be lost at any time, but may only be delivered later. * In this case, please do not make any enquiries about non-availability to our support. We will do everything we can to be up and running again as quickly as possible. * In the event of disruptions, we will inform you via our Twitter channel at https://twitter.com/mailbox_org. Please also check there if something is not running smoothly. When hackforum removed the booter category, DDOS attacks seemed to almost disappear overnight. Wherever they're advertising now I don't know, but it must be somewhere obvious to the black hat types because I get them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
