My biggest complaint with Hotpop is the spam!
Everyone complains about Hotmail spam; well I have an amazing amount of spam to two out of three free Hotpop accounts - one gets none, and two get inundated. No spam control for free accounts, so I use them just for testing

In the wee hours of the 25th I received my very first "Delivery has been delayed" message for test e-mail sent to HotPOP, due to my ISP SMTP being unable to connect with the HotPOP server for over 24 hours.

After that all test e-mail, including the one in question, was delivered in a timely fashion.

Any email service is going to receive spam, I use to think that hotmail was selling out the account names to spammers, but now I know that the spammers just have robots that guess all the account names, and then they send spoof emails to everyone of the email accounts guessed some are denied and some are accepted depending on whether the account exist or is a bogus one. One way to keep from getting spam is by not posting your email address anywhere on the web. My email j,l,@j,l,mail always receives spam, but that is because I can't set the filters high or else people won't get their emails then I get a guzzillion support emails hehe.

Website Down?

Can anyone get to the www.hotpop.com webpage? Every time I've gone over the last few days all I get is a blank page.

Longer than normal

Hotpop has been down a lot in the last year, but I don't recall it being this long before. They were down for a bit near the end of July, then up for a day or so. The last mail I received through them was July 29th, 13 days ago. Nothing delivered since and a dead website. We know it's not a domain registration problem this time. Anyone have a clue what the real problem is?

We can only speculate.
I notice that https://hotpop.com returns a "403 Forbidden" message.

Possibly nobody at their end has even noticed that the web page is down.
Possibly they are doing maintenance and deliberately took the page down so that nobody can sign up or change their settings.

As well as https://www.hotpop.com seems to take a long time to think about things then ask about a security certficate and then comes up with a forbiden page again.

It makes you wonder if they have gone bust suddenly and not even had the time to put a notice up.

Still down today, I would recommend people just give up on them now, as they might have suffered a major spam attack taking tem down, but there is also the other option they have been forced to close down suddenly due to lack of cash.

my hotpop works just now but I would not trust hotpop in future.
Too many reports from people having delays and trouble whenusing them.

And my account is full of spam too. so I feel bad about them.

I still can't get at the main site, but I have tried to get an aemail through to the server admin at the hosting end, and hopefully as soon as they recieve it they should look into this as it could be an issue with one of their servers and try and sort it out.
