Haven't received my test message from 27 hours ago yet (sent about 6PM Aug 30th (-0700)), or the one from 3 hours ago.
It just takes some services longer. |

It makes me wonder if they are on their last weeks and are going to be shut down soon if things continue.

I wish they would say something anything on their website. They have a "News" section on there, why not use it?
We're pretty much at their mercy. We never know if they'll be back up or stay down ... it's frustrating. Can't imagine how the people who actually pays for their services feel. |

Well, this is finally it for me. Hotpop has served me well for nearly seven years, and that was my big motivation for hanging onto them through the rough times lately. This last outage is it, though. I've changed my email address with all relevant entities that had hotpop as my address and will be moving on. It was good while it lasted, I suppose. Farewell, Hotpop.

Ditto Done too...
I finally got my mail delivered from Hotpop. I'm starting to wonder if the lastest install of McAfee didn't contribute, but their ups and downs over the last year couldn't be all about that. And since no one at Hotpop is talking, I have nothing in their defense. I enabled the forward feature and will migrate anybody I care about to another email service. It's a pity, since I liked Hotpop.

My test messages for the last 2 nights and tonight have been delivered.
My ISP tries to deliver for 3 days, and I had received a message saying that the first message had been delayed 1 day. A less persistant e-mail provider may have given up after the first day. I'm not sure what to do about my HotPOP.com account. Currently I don't use it for anything, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone as a first choice. I just keep hanging onto it ... for testing purposes (?) |

Weird
HotPOP as always worked fine for me.
Still is. I don't know why some of you keep having problems with them and complain about the service. It can be frustrating when you want to access the website and block domains, addresses, delete problematic messages, etc, but the email service itself never kept working for me. Of course I got other email accounts, with Gmail and other mail providers, I know better to depend on 1 mail provider alone, but I got no complaints about HotPOP, so far. As far as I'm concerned, it's a Great Email Service. And I only got the FREE service, I'm not a paying user of their service. Too bad I can only setup 50 blocks, but that should be more than enough to "kill" virtually 99% of spammers. Be a bit more patient! It will be worth it! All mail providers have occasional outages, downtimes, etc, HotPOP.com is no exception. But also realise this: What they experienced wasn't technically an outage... The email service kept full functionality, it was only the website that was down. We can only speculate why, as they haven't explained anything to their users/customers yet, but my best guess is DNS issues. It wasn't the first site/company to have them and for sure it wont be the last. Gmail has problems (don't forget it's still Beta, or so Google claims), Hotmail as HUGE problems, Yahoo has problems, your ISP (doesn't matter which one in particular, fore they ALL have) has problems, hosting companies have problems, housing companies have problems (this affects ALL servers housed in those companies' facilities)... It's not easy to provide services on a global scale with over 97% uptime. Of course if we want to use a service, we demand it's available when we want to use it, at the time we want to use it, whenever we want to use it, but... Can't always happen. Services, machines, computers, servers, backbones... They all fail, occasionally. Don't people as well? Noone nor anything is perfect. We need to realise that, as Internet users in particular and as people in general. Cheers everyone! |

Oddly spam emails seem to be getting through to my account today and yesterday which seems most odd.
