it also looks like mail might be delayed.

well its up now but i was getting 502 bad gateway and mail was about 5 minutes delayed for a bit.

There's an annoying little database bug in the status application that causes it to hang sometimes. It takes a few minutes to realise and restart itself. I haven't had time to look into it yet.

The fastmailstatus.com server is entirely unconnected to the production network - it lives on a virtual machine in a cloud provider and there's no relationship at all, so any outage to fastmailstatus.com itself says nothing about the FastMail service proper.

I have no evidence of widespread delivery delays, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a problem for your specific user or for some specific emails. Feel free to open a support ticket about it with some headers from the affected emails - their headers contain information that will tell us if anything was delayed.
