"All there really is,
The two of us
And we both know why we've come along.
Nothing to explain,
It's a part of us
To be found within a song..."

You'll wear those shoes and I'll wear that dress.
Kiss me beneath the milky twigh light
Leave me out on the moon lit road.

"When you're down in the dumps and
not ready to deal
decide what it is that you need
Is it money or love is it learning to live
or is it the mouth you must feed
Be known as a man who will always be candid
on questions that do not relate
And the house you live in will never fall down
if you pity the stranger who stands at the gate"

The House You Live In

"Mama, just killed a man,
put my gun against his head,
pulled my trigger now he's dead,
Mama, life had just begun,
but now I've gone and thrown it all away,
Mama, oo-o-o-ooh didn't mean to make you cry,
if I'm not back again this time tomorrow,
carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters"

Is this a real life?
Is this just fantasy?

lol hadaso ...I always wondered if there was some deep and meaningful message for the world in that song!

"I am just a vagabond, a drifter on the run,
and eloquent profanity, it rolls right off my tongue,
and I have dined in Palaces, drunk wine with Kings and Queens,
But darlin', oh darlin', you're the best thing I've ever seen"

Little Feat ~ Roll Um Easy ~ Dixie Chicken
(my all time favourite band btw)

I can't adequately articulate why it has such resonance but I've always been grabbed by the line from Pink Floyd's "Time" that goes...
Quote:
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way, the time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say..
Apparently it was inspired by...
Quote:
The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. HENRY DAVID THOREAU (1817-1862), "WALDEN"
Regards, AB

I was looking for a job
And then I found a job,
And heaven knows I'm miserable now....

...

In my life
Why do I give valuable time
To people that I'd much rather kick in the eye?

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse,
When you're chewing your life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle,
And this'll help things turn out for the best,
And.....
Always look on the bright side of life.

"You could hear the offbeats pound as they raced across the ground,
and the clatter of the wheels as they went round and round,
they galloped into Market Street his badge upon his chest,
his name was Ernie and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west"

Benny Hill ~ Ernie
(Yes, I did buy the record!)

Malc44.... Just wanted to add moral support to your confession and admit that I bought Ernie too! But will you admit to buying Scaffold's Lily the Pink?...

"Auntie Millie ran willy-nilly
When her legs they did recede,
And so they rubbed on medicinal compound:
Now they call her Millipede.

Jennifer Eccles had terrible freckles,
And the boys all called her names,
But she changed with medicinal compound:
Now he joins in all their games.

Weee-eee-eee'll drink-a-drink-a-drink
To Lily the Pink the Pink the Pink,
The saviour of the human race,
For she invented medicinal compound,
Most efficacious in every case."

lol shenton ....I didn't actually buy it, but I do remember it well
I wondered what efficacious meant every time I heard that song for many years!

I will however admit to buying 'Bridget the midget' and 'the laughing gnome' The latter is still an embarassment for one of my then heroes, David Bowie.

Speaking of Bowie....

"This is Major Tom to ground control,
I'm stepping thru the door,
and the stars look very different today,
and I'm floating in the most peculiar way"

-Space Oddity-

Dear robinson,

I haven't contributed to this thread up to now, but I loved "Life of Brian." As a Christian, I saw a number of sacred cows (including a few of my own, LOL) gored in that movie.

Best wishes,
David P.
