What if the option were given that if someone goes to:

https://www.fastmail.fm

that - since it is already "https" that only the secure login option is available?

That would be fine with me c/l.....

A few here want to eliminate the ability (or make if very difficult) to login without using https (even if you go to http://www.fastmail.fm)

I was in that camp, but realize the limitations.

This seems to be a good compromise

Try Links instead. I just logged in to my Fastmail account via HTTPS (using Links 2.1 under NetBSD) and everything works well.

Edit: I just tried Lynx, and it works with HTTPS too. It seems like you need to update your version. Here are some details about the one I'm using:

Code:
lynx -version
Lynx Version 2.8.6rel.5 (09 May 2007)
libwww-FM 2.14, SSL-MM 1.4.1, OpenSSL 0.9.7d
Built on netbsd2.1.0. Dec 20 2007 23:57:55
Is there any other reason you want insecure logins to be so prominent?

I don't want insecure logins to be prominent (I am not asking for that) but I expect an insecure connection if I don't use https. If I type http (before a web address) I am specifically requesting an insecure login.

What do you expect to happen if you just type "www‎.fastmail.fm", without specifying the protocol (http/https), and do you expect the typical Fastmail user to type it?

I would not mind if www‎.fastmail.fm led to a secure login; others might though I am thinking.

I would only expect it to be different if https: was specifically typed in.

I don't see how that answers my questions, but never mind. I give up.
