The idea is cool, out of the reach of GMail/Outlook.com. But keep in mind how many of them will survive in the next few years and when you get in trouble...how much availability of help documents do you expect.

Good luck.

Found another free (and paid) German based email service...

http://www.firemail.de/index.php

For the free email their storage is 10 gigs...and Interface can be set also in English language.

They also have pop3,Imap and smtp services. For IMAP you need to fill in the word "·Imap" in the vocher area in setup after you´ve signed up.

first test email to gmail account came into spambox....will test more.

Dutchie.

PS: also a test mail to an AOL account went into their spambox:-(

Alas...the firemail.de mails also go into the spambox from Hotmail, Outlook and Jubii.dk.
This imho is NOT a serious option...I don´t even bother to try out more accounts.

Only in yahoo,ZOHO,mail.com and gmx.com and myopera came in correctly. This realy is a sad result.

TANSTAAFL - Nothing is ever free. They have to be funded somehow. I prefer to pay for my online services myself in the (maybe forlorn!) hope that, having a proper commercial relationship with the supplier, the service is more likely to treat me as a valued customer.
For free services, the customers must be the people or organisations that are providing the finances.

What could this be about on directbox?

Quote:
Registration: Mobile Phone

In the course of your registration with directBOX we will send an SMS with an activation key on your mobile number. Only when you enter this unlock key on the next page correctly, we can create your new directBOX account.

I never heard of handynummers before. I try google and get back

Is Handy number a slang for Mobile phone number? the translation give same name for two different words.

okay here is the explanation "Moderne Handys bieten mehr als Telefonieren und SMS. Handys werden immer leistungsfähigere Multimediageräte." So a Handy is named Mobile or Cell phone in other languages

So the only way to get the code is to give them a cell phone number you have actual access to.

yes it just means "cell phone number" in German...it´s not slang but common used language.Handy= Cell phone.
As I noticed they (directbox) except ANY cell phone number!!

I noticed that various sites have been asking for cell phone numbers to send registrations codes.....so imho no big deal. in.com and spray.se are also doing this.

About Epost....it is NOT email!!! It is meant that you can send written letters (on paper!) by means of the internet!!! Further more i notcied at the registration page they ask a fysical address IN Germany and they do have an IP check..!! So if you are NOT living in Germany the service is useless. besides that it is (again) NOT email in the tradional way which is discussed in this forum.

pls look here:
