Network outage - 2016 June 30
As is currently reported on the FM status page, we appear to be going through some kind of DDoS attack. I wanted to create a space to get more detailed updates (if any) from FM, and also hear from other users what their current experience is.
http://www.fastmailstatus.com/ SMTP, both incoming and outgoing, appear to be broken for me. I can log into IMAP, and access my old emails through the website, but new emails are not arriving, and I cannot send emails through SMTP from Thunderbird or through the web interface. Work is on hold for me at this point. Hope it gets resolved soon! I'm aware that DDoS attacks are not easy to recover from. Thanks to FM for any details you can provide us, and for working hard to get things working again. |

Yep. Bogged down except to read messages. No outgoing mail service. And right on the heels of Fastmail's "New features, our next customer story and a FastMail user tip" rah-rah message.

Me too - IMAP and SMTP. SMTP down completely, IMAP unusably slow.

From my limited experience with DDoS attacks, I can tell you that it is generally very difficult to locate the perpetrators. Most of the time these attacks are carried out using botnets (a collection of infected Windows computers that the attacker controls).
Fastmail reported that they've installed some DDoS countermeasures, but are still having issues. I was able to send an email a few minutes ago, and a few incoming emails got through. At this moment, I'm also starting to see some older emails arrive. Whatever they're doing seems to be starting to work. I hope they continue to make progress! |

Could not use smtp server from my pop account at 12:30 p.m. Was able to send message from fastmail website. Looks like messages are being delivered to website too.

e-mails ,,,
I've been getting bad response yesterday and today with sending/receiving e-mails.
30 mins ago I got an "Internal server error 451 4,3,2" message when trying to send an e-mail from my POP3 client. Last edited by aracari : 1 Jul 2016 at 01:48 AM. |

"IMAP, POP, SMTP etc logins are working again. We'll be trying to figure out what happened there later, once everything has settled down." And I was able to send/receive a few e-mails ,,, |
