Where can I post photos for free?

Where can I post photos on the web (eg for family and friends) for free without alot of advertising spam being directed at us?

I've used Fotopic for a while and they've been OK.

Photobucket

Or if you have a webhost, JAlbum is great.

If you don't mind having your images re-sized, Yahoo offers plenty of space for image albums.

Also try Photosite - but you have to d/l some software to your machine in order to post there...

I recommend www.webshots.com if you just want to store pictures online in an album for all to see, or www.ripway.com / www.villagephotos.com if you want to hotlink on messageboards, auction sites and such.

As long as they are in JPEG/JPG you will get unlimited storage

http://xs.to/ is pretty good. You can store up to 100 images of 256KB or less. You can also delete images you don't want any more. I've used it for a while and the only fault I can find is that it deletes images that haven't been accessed for 30 days.

Lionrampant offer a great feature:

Have a look at one of our customers (who has given permission)

He simply drops his pictures into a folder on his computer and the mail system does this to them.

Has Surge Plus (or SurgePlus?) been restored? After your recent server problems, the link to it had vanished from my account. Haven't checked again recently to see whether it's been restored and/or whether the files I had previously had stored there have been lost, but will do so presently.

Edit: Okay, I just checked and it appears that the SurgePlus link is back again, but unfortunately my files no longer appear to be there.

Silence....

Why did you not say, I have restored a number of peoples? Remote files & storage. Depending how you ran it. Your files should just upload again from your local disc if you synchronize?

Thanks, but I'm not interested in the synchronization, afraid it might be a bit slow with my dialup connection to be worth the bother. But I guess I'm not really all that worried about the files I had stored there, so I'm not sure whether it would be worth the trouble of restoring them. As fallible as it may be, I suspect there's probably no "safer" or "better" place for my files than on my own computer anyway.

Cool

As I said, you only have to contact me at anytime and I will restore them for you. I know what you mean, my Dad is also on 56k.
