Where is the "advanced search"?
Where is the "advanced search"?
Can't see it on the "new" interface and I need the functionality. |

These must all be specified in UPPERCASE to distinguish them from normal search words. •SEEN | READ •UNSEEN | UNREAD •FLAGGED •UNFLAGGED •REPLIED | ANSWERED •UNREPLIED | UNANSWERED •HASATT (only works for messages that have been displayed in the webui) •HASNOATT | NOATT (only works for messages that have been displayed in the webui) •SELECTED •UNSELECTED •DRAFT •UNDRAFT For example, UNSEEN HASATT will show all unread messages with attachments. For more search terms, look here: https://www.fastmail.fm/help/mailbox_searching.html Otherwise you will have to use the classic for now... |

Please forgive me for being negative but I prefer to have a form to having to remember another set of keywords.

Saved searches?
...and will we be able to save the searches like in the classic interface, having access to them right above the folders with just one click?

Google style searching is coming. saved searches will likely only work in classic.

Google style?!? The current Fastmail style, classic advanced search form is really good and superior. Maybe the backend needs work, but don't strip down the options available. No saved searches either? ... That would be a major failure IMHO. Design for less functionality. 'tis a shame. For me I see no reason to move to the non-classic then, too many short comings.

Both saved searches and advanced searches will be available in the modern (new) interface (and obviously will remain in the classic interface). We're just not quite there yet.
Additionally, the default search mode (at least in modern, not sure about classic) will at some point be changed to a cross-folder full-body search (we're still getting the backend tech right). This will be implemented via a new search keyword, so it will be usable alongside the existing search keywords, including in saved searches. Or not, as you like. |

"Fastmail will be rolling out a completely new search function soon. Searches will search all message text -- so it will be more like a google or bing search."
Great! Please do it, it will be a fantastic new feature. |

We should note that it was not an official FM representative who called this search Google-style. IMO a Gmail-like mail search is one which is broken and I would not use it.

Part of the problems with the new interface roll-out have been communication related, which is ironic from an email service provider. :-) |

Glad to hear that improvements are coming soon. The current search capability, well, this is a family-friendly forum...
Cross-folder search by default is OK, if you have the resources to spare, but I find those searches are frustratingly slow, and hope I can again limit searches to one folder soon (in the new new interface) [NOTE: I would find searches of a specified set of folders to be a very useful feature - I'd use it for most of my searches if it was available.] |
