New rules settings in beta
Anybody know if there is preview of how sieve converter in new beta works?
As i've read it is one way process without going back to old sieve rules, so... to be prepared i think that some sort of preview of converts to the new interface would be great. I am using few complicated sieve rules and want to see them after convertion. Then i would correct some if it needs. |

If you go to beta and open your rules screen, it will convert to the new format. It's been mostly ok, with a couple of minor bugs for a couple of people that we're working through.
To revert, go to production, and use the revert option. If you were using the "sieve block" rules that have been on beta for the last ~5 years but never released to production, beta will do its best to convert it to the new model, but then you need to check that it was converted properly. There is no way to revert this rule style, so set aside a little time to check it. |

So... there is no 'preview' for the sieve 'converter'?
I hope it will work without a big pain... And what happen if i will go to beta, change sieve to new version and log into the normal FM (not beta)? What with rules then? |

No, there is no preview. There wasn't any point building one because this has to work for everyone - in a few weeks there will be one sieve rule system everywhere, and the majority of users don't care as long as it works.
If you're willing to spend some time confirming your rules work as expected and helping us test, then use beta now and let us know how it goes. If you're not interested in that, don't touch beta. This holds at all times - you should not be using beta unless you're willing to accept bugs, weirdness, crashes and tell us about it. |

OK, i won't touch anything.
If you wrote that there is only nearly 100 users using sieve then probably you have tested my filters |

How long does the converting process take? I tried to access the beta rules screen half an hour ago but all I see are the wobbling bars. I logged out and in again but it's the same.
By the way, the production rules screen says that my rules have been converted. |

Like misc, I just tried to access Rules on Beta and it hung.
I've previously used the custom sieve block to create different "out of office" replies for different email addresses (although I would delete that custom block when I didn't want auto responses, so it wasn't in place today). Went back to production and reverted as I didn't fancy not knowing what the conversion script had made of my rules. |

i am using mainly sieve rule to sort new emails from known group of contacts into proper folders using: header :contains "X-Spam-known-sender" "name-of-contact-group" so... it will be coverterted? if so then i have not to warry |

One thing I noticed is upon switching over my fetch mail accounts that were filtered into sub folders no longer are filtered. (setup via the fetch mail account settings, not a separate rule)
Filled out the beta feedback, least my other accounts dont get much mail to make it annoying. I like the new settings. |

Because with these no answers we are strongly invited to test alias DIY so i use now these new rules. In fact, they prioritize the default values you can only change on their former and some new menues ### 1. Distribution lists ### 2. Identity save on SMTP ### 3. Discard ### 4. Spam ### 5. Forward ### 6. Vacation Response ### 7. Organise ### 8. POP Link Filing so now (your and) my goal is to "slavering" these menues/priorities to stay the master of the sieve script....... For me during this 20 minutes test 1) i unactivated "vacation response" tab 2) in "spam protection" did goes to "custom" and unchecked the case "move" for "backscatter" part of this tab, i place to "do nothing" because i do not understand that function... 3) delete the script between their ### 4. and ### 5 to inhibit their default maxsize after reverted the script i checked the "spam folder" to know what messages was on my spam folder during this test. |

The main issue of the classic rules interface was its relative lack of readability, due to small edit boxes. This has not been fixed.
Why the hell is rules display so aggressively truncated? Why is the new interface wasting a third of the available space on the right side, w/o any resizing option? Some of my (very basic, no Sieve involved) rules are no longer working. Why did you hurry to roll out a poorly designed, unfinished work? |
