Fastmail Android App

Very excited to have just downloaded and looked through the first offering to an app for my Android device!

I love the fact we have access to all our folders, as well as all of our aliases to send from very easily.

Well done guys!

A couple suggestions:

1) Is it possible to get a dark theme at some point? I find it easier on the eyes, as well as saving a little on battery life on my device.

2) I would like the option to delete a message while in the message. As it is, we have to back out into the inbox, check the box, then select delete. It would be more efficient to have a delete button while looking at the message if possible. Or also, while in the inbox view, to long press a message to select, then delete option.

(Edit: Nevermind for #2, just figured out to tap on it while looking at the message brings up those options, including deleting)

Regardless, this is a great first offering of this app! Congrats, and many thanks!!

More themes have been on our todo list for a long time. I'll feed this request back into the relevant development ticket.

I'm still exploring the app. Is there a way to tell it which folders to alert me to for receiving an email? Some folders are important. Others are "look at it when I get to it."

Does it do notifications for calendar items? I tried and didn't get a notification so I'm assuming no.

Just the inbox at the moment.

I hope other folders are on the todo list. It's nice the app doesn't have the browser UI wasting space.

Not currently.

Its actually rather difficult to implement and make the UI quite complicated, so it would take some time to do. Based on our data we know that people who do filter new mail into folders usually do it because they don't want to see them immediately, so it seems that allowing per-folder notifications is quite a lot of work for very little gain.

A different angle might be have a sieve notify target that sends a push notification, so we don't have to provide UI. But that's just an idea; we haven't looked into it.

Once we've done some of the other things we want to do we'll revisit this, I'm sure.

Haha, yeah. The demo he does showing the instant response between the desktop and mobile apps and his smartwatch is pretty amazing. He really is that excited

Looks like this app is just a web page (mobile web interface) wrapped in an executable and not a native Android app (like Gmail) and its only advantage is push notifications.

I'll stick with Aquamail, sadly.

Yes, I'm using the pro one. It's the most feature rich POP3/IMAP/Exchange client available for Android and the UI is designed with power users in mind so less eye candy and more power features. It's been around for quite some time so it's mature and stable and I use it to handle my personal and work accounts.

As for what it can do you can refer to this page: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...AquaMail&hl=en

The default is 25 messages, yes, and you can increase it up to 5000 messages *or* sync messages based on a time period.

I didn't change the default.
