GMX and Deleting messages

Using GMX, when I delete a message using Thunderbird it doesn't get deleted when I use the web interface.
What do I have set up incorrectly?

Are you using POP3 or IMAP access in Thunderbird? If POP3 access, the emails are not synchronized.

If using IMAP, how are you deleting the email? Are you purging the email after a line has been drawn through?

As I asked above, how are you deleting the email in IMAP? Are you purging the email after a line has been drawn through? Is the email in Trash in Thunderbird?

Sorry, I was tired...
I am using Thunderbird. I am deleting it by setting it to move to trash when I delete a message. There is no line thorugh it and there is no "marked" I think that's how gmail worked.

Could GMX and Gmail have something in common.
They prefer us to not delete emails?

I logged in to the GMX.com webmail and looked at settings.

On inbox it says that it keeps the emails forever.

Maybe one have to go to the webmail to delete them
and the Thunderbird or other clients maybe don't delete them?

Just me trying to get what it says. WLM client seems to treat
GMX as keep until next day. A kind of protection in case one
delete an email one want to keep but hit accidentedly then one have
one day to look for it at the webmail?

I can't find GMX's instructions for setting up Tbird and IMAP> Can you post a link? I'm just not seeing it.

I did log in and up to the right there is a Help button to click on.
Look for mail and imap setting.

POP3 & IMAP Server
You can access your GMX mailbox with familiar mail programs like Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.

Have your mail picked up from the GMX server via ... IMAP which ensures that all folders in your webmail and on your computer are synchronized.

Enter the following server names in your mail client

* SMTP Server: mail.gmx.com (for ... IMAP)
* IMAP4 Server: imap.gmx.com
Suppose we have TB I happen to have Windows Live Mail.
They don't mention that one. but I try to look in TB.

Use the whole email address.

I normally find hitting delete when using imap and then choosing purge messages gets rid of emails, from all accounts, and I think this has worked with GMX before, but this is something I may try later and get back to you lot over as it's something which might work or it might not.

Hi, You can delete with GMX, in webmail right click and choose delete and then empty it from trash, and in IMAP, highlight the email press delete and then purge the message as usual and that works fine for me no problem.
