HELP !! At wit's end with Play Store Fastmail.com android app...
Had to log out of my own Google Store Fastmail app on Galaxy FE S20 FE 5G to log into wife's account. Can not log back into my own on the phone, now! Have tried uninstalling/installing FM app with restart between, logging in through Fastmail.com website, even changing password for FM.com. account. Also unable to use my phone to log into HER account again using HER credentials. NOTHING WORKS!! My phone no longer works with FM's app! Need some direction, please!

Clearing cache and data does not help. Clear both, restart, try login, no joy... Have tried starting, restarting, deleting, uninstalling and installing in a variety of combinations to no avail. For some reason my phone has taken a dislike to the FM App...

Have you looked to see if your phone needs a software upgrade?

If you are referring to uninstalling/reinstalling the app, I've done that several times during my battle with restarts in between with no good results. If you're referring to a phone system reset to factory specs, that won't happen. I've had to do that several times in my life and have vowed that I will not do it again. None of my experiences with resets have ended well and I'd rather confine email to my computers than volunteer for more grief... I'll install the Fastmail app again on my next phone.

Have you raised a support ticket with Fastmail?

I don't see this as a FM problem. My email works fine on every other device I use it on. The architecture of the app is completely different from the architecture of the web interface. I'm rather sure that there is a bent valve in my phone's OS that a complete wipe would probably fix if I was willing to go through one!
Thank's to all for your inputs, and I'm still open to new thoughts. |

The symptoms are consistent with a malware infection. Indeed, I would put the chance as higher than 50% that this is what you have encountered. On Android, I have always taken the nuclear approach (factory reset) to any malware infection, but I sympathise with your reluctance to do that. Possibly, a site dealing with Android malware infection fighting might be worth a visit right now.

The last I heard the app was a canned version of the webmail. A lot of stuff is disabled or behaves differently on the app, but I think it's basically the same code. |
