Unhappy Stolen accounts at FM

I'm surprised no one yet has commented on this post on FM's status blog:

Email sending delays to comcast, cox, roadrunner and others

A large number of stolen accounts were used to try and send spam to other email services from FastMail.
The stolen accounts have all been identified and blocked, however some services are still delaying/blocking email from our servers (e.g. comcast, cox, roadrunner). We’re working to have these blocks removed
Huh, stolen accounts? Are these from FastMail? Can we get some more explanation about this?
Should we be concerned about it?

Nothing to be concerned about. These are the typical result of users falling for phishing scams.

Yeah, I do tech support for a small ISP and we have stuff like this happen too. Users fall for scams, get malware etc... that results in their accounts being compromised and spamming, which can occasionally result in our outgoing server being blocked by some spam services.

Why is outbound email not subject to spam checks?

They are, but since these are accounts in good standing (ie paying customers that have been with us for a while) we do significantly less spam checking on them. Not none, but less than a new account.
