Mew kind of spam
I've been getting spam that purports to come from people in my address book (I'm using Thunderbird with Fastmail). It contains some variation of hi/hello, and a link that displays as https://www.google.com/search?q=<my email here> but actually directs to a bit.ly URL.
Has anyone else gotten those? |

I got an email like that last month or so. Messages in my spam folder get deleted after a week so I don't remember the exact receive time. The sender was NOT in my address book, but was someone (that I know personally) that I had recently 'friended' on fb. I do remember taking somewhat of an interest because the userid part of the address sent to was not used anywhere, like for newsletters or other services.
- Bruce edit: I just checked my spam folder and the message was still there. I got it last month, on the 28th. The domain part of the senders address goes to a non-english cell phone marketer. Last edited by somdcomputerguy : 7 Dec 2022 at 09:21 PM. |

I'm suspecting some sort of email address harvesting malware.
