So far it seems like they're letting Scryptmail alone. Either that or Sergei has discovered the secret of warding off the attack.

So its the same culprits then... why don't they go and attack Yahoo Microsoft or Google. Cowards attacking smaller companies.

b/c yahoo can easily defend 100Gbps DDoS but most small providers can't.

Nov 6: Recent service outage resulting from denial-of-service incidents

Hushmail, posted this on Nov 6, 16:35

This week our customers experienced two unscheduled service outages resulting from distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. DDoS attacks occur when a criminal perpetrator uses a large number of computers under their control to send huge amounts of traffic to a network. The sheer volume of requests overwhelms the bandwidth and resources of the target network to the point where legitimate users are unable to access it.
Our customers depend on us to keep our services up and running. Unfortunately in this case it took us longer than we would have liked to mitigate these attacks. We're sorry for the impact these attacks have had on our customers, and we're grateful for their patience and understanding while we work through this. We've got all hands on deck working to meet our service commitments to our customers.
The attackers have demanded a ransom, which we will not pay, and have promised an increase in the intensity of the attacks. As such we expect that there will be continued attacks, which may result in further interruptions in service. We are continuing to improve our protection against these attacks, and have filed a criminal complaint with the relevant authorities.
We'll continue to post updates to our status site and Twitter account as more information becomes available.

I hope you right, its either that or 10 years of Web Dev and Networking. However, choosing right Hosting provider is not less important. Usually premium hosting, can alleviate a lot of headache
Ps. I think tatanota is also pretty stable.

Maybe this is also the reason for Safe-Mail's outage ; it seems a lot of "smaller" providers (= providers less big than Gmail, Hotmail/Outlook, Yahoo, etc) have been under attack recently.

I wonder why ; most people who would use such forms of "activism" (= deliberately between "s because such attacks should Always be disapproved and there's no valid excuse for doing such things) would rather target the big players and be on the side of those who offer a privacy friendly alternative to the big players...

And smaller providers must make more effort to withstand the attacks.
