They seem to be down for maintenance. The message say it's just for five minutes.

hmm. for some reason, I can't get to admin.fastem.com either. could both the main fastmail and the status page site be down by coincidence?

Same here, without the fancy "we'll be right back" message.

Rackspace have lost our internal routing tables somehow. I'm on the phone with an engineer now and they're adding them back in. Hopefully it'll be only a few minutes.

Wink technobabble

OK, so what do all those snazzy computer terms mean, exactly, for us laypeople?

It's worse than Rackspace (our network provider) said at first--it turns out that their whole internal network is down.

They said it should be back in a few minutes. When I asked for more details, they said "tens of minutes"...

Is that why the admin.fastem.com site is down, too? It is physically located somewhere other than Texas, right? But is it still hosted by Rackspace (at their European location)?

If that is true: I know this would probably be a rare occurrence, and I know you are considering leaving Rackspace anyway, but maybe it would be a good idea to host the status site and the main site with different providers, just in case of a situation like this. With no admin site, nobody could page you.

Or maybe I'm completely wrong, in which case you should just ignore me and tell me to shut up :-)

Unhappy 10's of minutes

OK, that really sucks. All my job agents are routed to that e-mail address, including any interested prospective employers who liked what they saw on my resume!
