runbox filter rules

hello

i use runbox filters (TO CONTAINS ...) for my inbox in order to sort the incoming emails on the basis of my different email addresses (x@gmx.ch, z@gmx.net, ...) into different inbox folders (business, privat, ...). and it works!

second, i TRY to filter my SENT emails (FROM CONTAINS ...) using the same email addresses (x@gmx.ch, z@gmx.net, ...) in order to sort my outgoing emails into the sent folders (business, privat, ...). but this filters do not work att all.

first i defined the inbox filters and then i defined the sent filters. all filters have the same order number 0.

additionally: could someone explain me, what contain means. for example:
the email header has the TO email address xx@foo.com or zz@foo.com. does TO CONTAIN @foo.com sort out the two emails xx@foo.com and zz@foo.com.
or do i have to create a separate filter for each email address?

any help would be appreciated!!

kind regards.

Hi go4unkwn

Great to hear from you in the forum

Runbox filters only work on incoming mail. That is why your sent mail is not filtered.

However, there is a way to do what you have want.

You don't say whether you use the Runbox webmail interface or an email client to send email, but whichever you use, if you tell it to send a copy of all outgoing emails to yourself by BCC, then when that email arrives in your Runbox account it can be filtered in to the folder that you specificed in the filters. Most email clients can send a BCC copy, and to do this in Runbox you select the option in "preferences". I hope that makes sense.

On your second question, "contains" means that xx@foo.com and zz@foo.com will both be sorted by the same filter if the filter is looking for @foo.com

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Best wishes
David
