No more FTP?
It seems Fastmail is dropping FTP support. Can anyone confirm?

I haven't used FTP for 5 or 6 months, I've been using WebDAV instead. I'll check.

I have an existing FTP app password which still works. The server ftp.fastmail.com still works.
However, you can no longer create a new FTP app password, and all references to FTP have been removed from Fastmail's help pages. It does, indeed, seem that Fastmail's FTP support is in the process of being phased out. Fastmail is not alone in abandoning use of FTP. For instance, Google Chrome has recently decided to end support. |

Well I was going to post my findings, but since they are almost identical to BritTim's explanation (if I hadn't deleted my existing FTP app password before trying to create a new one..) I'll just agree with his post. WebDAV will be an OK replacement for me in this case. I mean with the way I us FM's file storage.

From Fastmail on 5 March with thanks for the three months!
End of support for FTP Hello, We regret to inform you that we recently ended support for FTP, but failed to include you and your user 1 when we notified everyone who uses FTP of our plans to make this change. We've contacted your user as well, letting them know that we've ended support for FTP. We shut down our support for FTP on March 3, 2022, because we had very few customers using FTP, and continuing to support FTP became unsustainable. You and your user 1 may be able to continue accessing your files through WebDAV instead of FTP. For details, please see our Remote file access help page. Disabling a service that you use without notifying you in advance is unacceptable. We are very sorry that you and your user were affected by this. As a gesture of goodwill, we have credited your account for three months for each user affected, which you can see on the Settings → Billing & Plan screen. If you have any questions, please reply to this message and our support team will be happy to assist. |
