Just took a look since a long time and saw many are left in silence... :(
|
Bruce, I just sent you a photo. Hopefully my face is large enough in that "action" shot from last weekend. I didn't start growing the beard until 6 months ago, and I'm keeping it trimmed at the length shown.
I have been around computers a long time, many years before email was available. My first computer programming was on a Olivetti P101 (Programma 101) while I was in high school in about 1969, followed a couple of years later by Teletype and punched card access to the University of Texas CDC6400 mainframe computer. I was sending Amateur Radio messages (using Morse Code and FSK with a mechanical Model 15 Teletype machine) in the early 1970's, and these were essentially early forms of email. By 1980 I was using my second personal computer (a Zenith Z89), a couple of years before the IBM PC was introduced. In the early 1980's I was a member of SAHUG (San Antonio TX Heathkit User group) and we had a BBS (which was another predecessor to email). Around 1980-1982 I helped maintain the GTE Telenet (early packet switched network) terminal in Austin, TX. In the mid-1980's I had a Western Union EasyLInk account (an early electronic mail system before the Internet): Bill |
Time for an update
Just sent you a new pic too, Bruce. Thanks!
|
Just added your pic to the 'EMD member gallery', Bill. It is just great to tie faces to names. I've had an 'official computer relationship' since the mid 80's, and for 4 or 5 years ran a BBS (RBBS) starting in the late 80's. At the time I was an 'advanced' computerguy, I used a 2400 baud modem instead of a 300 or 1200, but I thought 9600's were just a 'fad' and weren't too necessary yet..

Updated, webgenie!

I have uploaded a more recent (2015) pic to my FM file storage, and will be submitting it, but even that one is a bit out of date, since my hair is now thinner and lighter; my current crew cut makes me look like Skin'ead O'Connor. :D |

I'm glad to see this page is still up. I would say it's time to update my photo but I've aged like a fine wine sitting beside a hot furnace.
|
Yep. The gallery is still up. It's hosted by Fastmail and uses their 'photo gallery' option in Files|Websites. I may use a different gallery software/script, but I'm gonna try to keep the images where they are.
- Bruce eta: Maybe I should clarify just to clarify: by 'hosted by Fastmail' I meant the files are 'in' an account I have with Fastmail. The 'EMD Photo Gallery' is 'run' only by me and has nothing to do with the Fastmail company or the Email Discussions forum. |
Nice to see everyones pictures :)

Thanks for this photo page. But when I view the link (https://emdpics.somdcomputerguy.com/) in either the Firefox or Edge browsers, the display is incorrect, usually after GDG. All later entries are missing thumbnails and some white text is inserted. I can click on the empty area where the thumbnail should be and see the large photo, but obviously something is broken when I view the page.
The behavior is erratic, so I wonder if it's some rate limiting put in by Fastmail after the recent attack. Bill |

Well I was misreading what I could see of the text being displayed. It's not permission issues. It appears the gallery loads better at this URL - http://images.somdcomputerguy.com/EMDpics/ than it does from this one - https://emdpics.somdcomputerguy.com. The only difference I can think of off the bat is because of the http via https thing..
- Bruce eta: I believe that had much to do with this issue. Use - http://emdpics.somdcomputerguy.com instead. |
Thanks, Bruce! http://emdpics.somdcomputerguy.com/ is working great. My photo isn't too many years old -- it was before the pandemic, but it shows my grey hair and beard I started a few years ago. But I have lost over 60 pounds since that photo - on purpose!

Meanwhile, I've gone in the opposite direction. :( |

Getting back to the subject of this thread: I’m building a new house now (after demolishing my old house two months ago) and I’m hoping that after all the delays it will be complete around March of 2022, when I should get down to my target weight. I will take a nice photo of myself in my new house at my new weight then and post it here. :D |

Wanted - Dead or Alive!
It's about time some of you forum members, who have not yet supplied a photo to Bruce's EMD Photo Page, say 'cheese', take a selfie, and submit your mugshot!
It's nice to put a face to a name! :) |
Thanks Fred :)
