What could be done is to force the login page to be SSL for anyone not willing to jump through...

This is because there is a 72 character limit for plaintext specified in email RFC's. Most email softwares comply with this limit. If you want to control your own line spacing, use HTML composing.

Secure mode switches you over to SSL during login. SSL means the computer you're on and the FM Web Server handling your activity (end to end) knows what is being transmitted but no router or sniffer...

You can easily use your FM account to handle outgoing mail for your website. The website will need your user/pass and be sure that the website doesn't accidentally turn into a tool for spammers.
