Network Solutions POP incoming error

I have set up gmail to receive POP mail from Network Solutions and verified several times that I followed instructions. (Even got instructions from various sources.)

It will NOT pull incoming mail. I get the following error
Server returned error "The other server sent messages in the wrong order. Please contact your other ..."

Any thoughts? Network Solutions will talk to me 'for a fee', but I would like to avoid that.
