![]() When composing a new message using the default Email Application that comes with the iPod Touch (or iPhone) applies the email address specified in the Settings under "IMAP Account Information".
Every time an email is sent using the Email App, it only uses this the default email address specified. I'm using Fastmail.fm for my IMAP, so if I try to enter a second email account, it won't let me create another one under mail.messagingengine.com under the same username, but different email address. So, this brings me to the following questions: Question 1 Is there an email App in the iTunes store - for the iPhone/iPod Touch - that provides for a drop-down menu - similar to Fastmail.FM - that allows you to choose which email address is displayed in the From: header? Question 2 I'm not sure if it's possible to install a second or alternate email application on the iPhone / iPod Touch. In the Settings, the Mail, Calendar, and Contacts link directly to the standard Mail-App, Calendar-App, and Contacts-App that came with the device. Is it possible to use an alternate email application? If so, is there one that's recommended that meets the criteria above? Question 3 Is it possible to delete the default email application from the iPhone / iPod Touch? |

MobileMail
It seems the name of the default email application that comes standard is called
MobileMail After a thorough search, there are several apps that let you draft and compose in many ways, even using the landscape format, but these then transfer the text to MobileMail after drafting is completed. It seems there are no alternatives to MobileMail and I'm unable to have the flexibility to vary my From: Header to select which email address I wish to send from. On a side note, the new FM Beta at - www.fastmail.fm/beta - is very iPod friendly. The only downside is that this must be run via the Safari browser, and not an App. |
