fastmail urls

Hi,

had an idea for some fastmail urls today. How if we had a special url for each main fastmail option ... such as ... to access the fastmail notepad: go to http://fastmail.fm/notepad ... this takes you to the fastmail login screen for login, and upon successful login takes you to the notepad section.

possible url ideas:

http://fastmail.fm/compose
http://fastmail.fm/addresses
http://fastmail.fm/notepad
http://fastmail.fm/files
http://fastmail.fm/options
http://fastmail.fm/folder/myfoldername

so supposing I wanted to send an email:
I go to http://fastmail.fm/compose. This takes me to the login screen. On successful login, it takes me straight to the compose screen where I can send an email or if i wanted to view a specific folder named 'family_email': I would visit http://fastmail.fm/folder/family_email, this would take me to the login scr, and on successful login would get me straight to that folder

ahhhhh i would love to be able to do this on the web interface!

best regards,
Joel.

make them subdomains...as suggested on the Wiki, forum.fastmail.fm, faq.fastmail.fm, and this way you can also: options.fastmail.fm, files.fastmail.fm, user.fmdomain.tld/mail/foldername (last is from your filespace)

couldn't get it to work

Hi Daniel,

Really sorry ... somehow I couldn't seem to get this to work. I tried typing options.fastmail.fm, files.fastmail.fm into internet explorer, I got this message:

****************************
User page unknown
The page you have tried to access is not a valid known user. Please check that you have the correct URL and try again.
****************************

Neither did the user.fmdomain.tld/mail/foldername url work ... gives me the same message.

Plz do let me know what i'm doing wrong, I've probaby missed something small

It's a feature request/suggestion, it's not working yet
(edit)
For the compose screen - drag a link to the compose screen to the desktop. Not sure, maybe it will work (best after Rob does the changes that affect autologin shortcuts on the Weekend)

We're planning that FastCheck will be used for this purpose. Right now, you can use FastCheck to jump to your inbox, or the Compose screen (and you can use keyboard shortcuts for this ). FastCheck keeps an open session on the server and uses that, so this is much faster than logging in the normal way.

'course that means that fastcheck must be running ... for a quick check at home or at a friend's place it may not be ... hmm

I had forgotten about fastcheck stuff tho, was just using it for real-time notification, so thx Jeremy for the reminder!

best regards,
Joel.

Fastmail's Mac users (and Linux too, I would think) would like to ask how the porting process is going with FastCheck? I know there was some effort in progress to make it work on non-Wintel systems, but it's been a while since I heard any news.

Don't leave us out of your plans!
