If your a paying Member or on higher Paid
FM is a for fee email service. The Guest account should not use wap cause it will make use of the FM smtp server which is only for those who pay.
WAP is still a Beta experiment and will be rewritten when time allow them to include it in the regular service. Brong could tell you more trew Last edited by trew : 12 Mar 2005 at 05:09 PM. |

This is not wireless but here is how I retrieve my email (when on the road)
Maybe someone is interested. My (broadband) ISP gives me 4 free hours of dialup time + a bunch of low cost (or free in my Province) phone numbers to use when travelling. I have an ancient Palm 3X organizer (with a clip on modem) I use a free software client (on my Palm) called TG Postman that interfaces with the built in Palm mail client (on my organizer) which is normally used to sync mail to my local computer. So... I just write my email (that I want to send) and fill in the details of server and username etc and find a vacant phone outlet. I dial local phone numbers. Mail is sent and retrieved (by POP) from whatever mail account I wish (including fastmail) This is mostly a free solution as dial up charges are never more than four or five dollars an hour (in any country) and less than 2 dollars an hour in the US -- Depending on location -- Synchronizing my mail only takes a minute or two. Free is good ![]() |

Me only have free account on fm
so my smartphone don't remember the username and addy.
but I 've heard one could make a long string into an url like wap.fastmail.fm:80xx?username ![]() that would help me use the web interface fi someone gave how one does it. Our ISP charge a lesser rate for mobile to dial up number than gprs so it would be less costly. I will test it. thanks trew |

Edit the MYUSERID and MYPASWORD bits. |

When I get in through wap.fastmail.fm I can only read the Inbox. I cannot get the 'change'folder' function to work. Is that just how it is or should I be able to get into the other folders?

It works for me, but I have seen others report problems. What device are you using?

Presumably you can see the folder list and Submit link? If you have a lot of folders, it can take some time for them to download.

Normally, selecting the Inbox link would show the list of folders. I am not familiar with the Nokia phones, is there a menu button?

Aha! Thank you, David. In that screen the word 'Inbox' did not appear to be a hyperlink so I just clicked on 'Submit'. When I clicked on 'Inbox' it did reveal the folders. Much appreciated.

David, appreciated wow it works
here is how I set it up.
P910i I use the free prog jText to make a bookmark of email addresses, just now I only have fm boookmarked there. I need to learn how to get opera to find it fast. Now I have to go through a long meny to find it. Wow very fast sign in. thanks for all help. I use another domain at fm but one should use wap.fastmail.fm to sign in as you pointed out. I made a clickable link of it so I have it near at hand in my opera on the smartphone whenever I want to know if mail arrived. I composed an email while in FM and sent it to another account. Question: It seems to make me having an alias and free guests are not allowed aliases? Ok it is not a real alias but same username but fastmail.fm as domain while joined or sing up using one of the shorter ones. Was that allowed I hope??? Trew PS if one correct the domain b4 sending it out then all will work. So if you signed up to fastmail.fm then it workes but if you signed up using any of the other then you need to change outgoing from cause when somebody answer you they trust the fastmail is your true addy and FM will not accept the email. User unknown it says. Last edited by trew : 4 Mar 2005 at 11:14 PM. |
