Streamload

Set up account today with Streamload. Uploaded one file without problem. Have been unable to log back into the account. When I requested (forgotten) password I was notified, "No such member, no such emailaddress."

It's not my job to defend streamload.... So what follows is just a suggestion, your mileage may vary &c .
I had a similar problem with another website. Tried the 'forgotten password' procedure a few hours later, and it worked. Some database not updated immediately ?? Don't know - only guessing.
Suggestion in brief: try again (much) later.

Are you guys using MediaMax or legacy V4 accounts? V4 offered unlimited storage for paid accounts (but apparently in a feasible way business-wise).

Streamload

Streamload replied to my email query to them. Very prompt reply for free. As beq noted, and additional info from Streamload's reply, there are 2 different log in sites that are NOT at present interchangeable:

Did they tell you when they'll finish migrating all the existing V4 accounts to MediaMax? I assume the V4 account will no longer be offered then?

Streamlaod

All they said was, "We're sorry about the log in issue. As we are migrating our current users to the new version of Streamload MediaMax, there are currently two log in pages. If you use the link at the top right or visit http://www.streamload.com/About/Home.asp, you can log in to version 4 of Streamload while the migration takes place.

Streamload MediaMax users can log in here: http://mediamax.streamload.com."

Mozy.com out of beta

Seems like mozy.com is out of beta - and now offers unlimited backup for 4,95/month - or 2GB for free.

A great service in my opinion - automated, differential (30 last) backup, for my whole drive if I like (or at least the "My Documents" folder). And, when needed - I have access to my files from the web, and can even restore only one file.

As far as I can see here it has also achieved good reviews.

I have tried the service for a while and can recommend it.

With the Mozy Plus subscription I could backup files from several computers, as long the total was under 30 or 60GB. Now, with the "Unlimited" edition it seems that you only can have one computer per account.

I have tried Streamload/Mediamax with less luck. I mean, your files will eventually be uploaded to the account, but the web interface is "full of" errors and timeouts, and their software for syncing and backup is even worse.. Don't know if that has something to do with me working mainly from Norway and Poland - and the servers being in the US, but that hasn't stopped other services to work great.

I have searched a long time for an online service, not too expensive, where I could backup 8GB of pictures + some 6GB's of docs and music - and I might go with mozy.

So far it looks / works good.

I have been using Mozy free for over a week now. Early on there were a number of errors which were put down to 'growing pains' and they were soon rectified.

I have now had a server error for over 24 hours during which backups have failed.

So far for the relatively small amout of data I need to back up, Datadepositbox at $2 per gig has proved the most reliable service.
