Will my att.net email be disabled if I cancel AT&T as my ISP?
I'm posting this on behalf of a friend who's having trouble registering with emaildiscussions.com:
AT&T is my ISP, and I have an att.net email address. I no longer need Internet service from AT&T. If I cancel my Internet service, will AT&T disable my att.net email address? If I have any problems with my email after canceling my ISP, will I be on my own as to how to resolve any issues? |

After seeing some comments on other forums, I believe the answer is that the att.net email account will remain in service after AT&T services are cancelled. For several years att.net email has been run by Yahoo. At this time they have a start page at currently.com for their services (including att.net email login). You can sign up for any available att.net (or currently.com) email address at:
https://www.att.com/partners/currently/email-sign-up/ To test this I just signed up for a new att.net email account without referencing any existing AT&T service I use. This worked. As far as I can tell, you will have basic AT&T Yahoo email service, and would need to pay ($5/month, I think) to get Yahoo Mail Plus (without advertising and a few other features). I know these new Yahoo att.net accounts work for webmail access. I’m not sure if this email account can be accessed using an email client as shown here. Bill |

i have several att.net and currently.com email addresses for free.
so i guess they will not cancel your email even if you unsubscribe from their isp. |

Too much risk. Best create an alternative email that is NOT with internet service provider. Use that alternate email for creating account on emaildiscussions dot com.
Can anybody confirm that if one has AT&T isp and has ATT email account, that after cancel of AT&T service, user still has access to ATT email account? |

Well, I’m not sure what is causing your difficulty. I just created a new att.net email account using the link I posted here a couple of week ago. The new free account works - I sent an email to it and replied, so it can receive and send properly. I have now created two free att.net email accounts in the last two weeks, and they both work.
Are you in the US? I’m not sure if AT&T offers service in other countries. Did the text message confirmation work? Bill |

The site which I used to sign up seems to be the main site, which I listed earlier in this thread:
https://www.att.com/partners/currently/email-sign-up/ It's Yahoo email, but AT&T set up the currently.com domain for their news and email run by Yahoo. The email address can be chosen at the att.net or currently. com domain. It works fine for me, but I personally won't use it for anything but testing operation. Bill |

Clicking to sign-up, the next page gives the choice of currently dot com; or att dot net .
