Pobox changes

I got a mail from them:
Quote:
We?re writing to let you know that we are making some improvements to our authentication systems that will affect how you log in to your Pobox account.

Every Pobox user has a reference address, which is the primary alias associated with the account. Currently, we allow customers to log in to Pobox using other aliases that are not their reference address. It looks like you have recently accessed your Pobox account using an alias other than your reference address.

Starting August 1, 2024, you will only be able to log in to your Pobox account using your reference address. This applies to web logins at www.pobox.com, as well as logins via a mail client or app.

If you are using any mail clients or apps with your Pobox account, please check your server settings in each client before August 1. If an alias other than your reference address is being used, please change this to your reference address. If this change is not made before August 1, your mail client will not be able to connect to your Pobox account, causing interruptions to your mail service.

Your reference address is: ***@pobox.com

If you would like to use a different alias as your reference address, or if you have any questions or concerns, please reply to this message, and we will be happy to assist.
I have been using pobox for 15 years. pretty like this service. hope FM doesn't drop the biz.

I'm curious, what makes you take POBOX over FM?

I understand something different by ‘free’.
