So I tried Skiff with a domain I own. Frankly, not impressed. Nothing terrible, just not worth it compared to say Fastmail or Workspace. It was slow to recognize my domain and let me finish the setup. Slow, like a couple of hours slow before I could use the account. Tried to import my Google calendar, and some strange bug wiped out most imported events after a few minutes--most, but not all. But, my main complaint is just the UI is clunky and not super intuitive. Anyway, a pass from me for paid domain email.

When you move an email domain you can have up to 48 hours of disruption. The time taken for a hosting company to recognize the change is a lottery.

Theoretically it depends on the TTL of your mx records, so if you change it to something small (a few minutes) and wait the the previous TTL (48 hours?) then when you change the records anyone looking for them would check for changes.

Why wouldn't you host your personal domain on your personal company's service?

Same reasons you wouldn't only eat at your own restaurant, I'd say. If you never experience anything beyond your own recipe, you get stuck in a bad place over time and fall out of tune with what's happening outside.

For the next 6 months, Skiff services will continue to operate without disruption, and users can freely duplicate, migrate, or export data. You can now also set up a forwarding address to redirect mail to any other provider. Our commitment to privacy and security is unchanged. All user data remains end-to-end encrypted, and Skiff products will never monetize your data. Accounts and data on Skiff will not be converted into Notion accounts. We encourage you to export your data and migrate custom domains within the next 6 months. We’ve prepared this guide to make that process as easy as possible. For any other questions, our support team is readily available via the in-app “Send feedback” option or at support@skiff.org.

I can't register, during signup the message "Must verify captcha" comes up and doesn't go forward.
