After many years of using my old HP-15C calculator, I still use it on a daily basis, and always TAKE it with me everywhere. My slide rules will become collectors items, one day, I do sincerely hope

I use a FAKE HP42S (application on iPad and iPhone) these days, although I own several actual HP calculators and still have my HP45 from 1973 (whose battery died decades ago). But be warned that our memories of these old objects and events are malleable. The act of remembering an event destroys it, and when it is re-remembered it may be changed by subsequent experience.

I hope that my observation that the phenomenon you describe is analogous to the observer effect will not FAZE you.

Sometimes (in the summer time) I manage to get out sailing in the gulf islands.
While doing this I often LAZE out on the deck. The 'observer effect' is something I always try to stay attentive of, so as to not hit up on any rocks. |

About 20 years ago I took a day ferry boat trip around the adjacent US San Juan Islands and was privileged to GAZE at the beauty of these islands.

I didn't have the GALL to canvass the other passengers about their origin, but some of my ancestors have names indicating they probably were of such ancestry.

The San Juan Islands are indeed a thing of beauty. If it is blowing a GALE and you are at the helm of a sailboat, you can have lots and lots of fun.

You should be a HALE individual if braving the seas in such winds.

When braving the seas in a small boat, we learn pretty quickly how to BALE out the water as well.
