Lost my new emails, PLEASE HELP!!!
Hi folks,
...hate my introduction to be this flavour, but I need HELP!!! I opened up Outlook Express this morning, to see 15 new emails in my Inbox (the usual bold with number in brackets) ... my system crashed and on re-boot, I do a send/receive, but the emails don't come back in??? ... so they appear to be lost in cyberland. Any help MUCH appreciated, as I know of 3 important emails which should have arrived over the last 12 hours. Kind Regards, Cal |

You could try this:-
http://www.insideoe.com/problems/bugs.htm#mailgone Although I wouldn't get your hopes up. To prevent it happening again make sure that Background Compaction (Tools... > Options > Maintenance) is turned off. Virus scanners can also be a problem. |

Welcome to the EMD Forums, Calman!
Have you checked the server to see if they are still there? Most email services these days have a webmail interface available, and if you were using IMAP your messages should still be on the server. If you were using POP, they are probably gone (although they might still be on the server if it was configured to keep old POP messages for some interval). This is one reason that I will never use POP again. It's too dangerous. IMAP is much more forgiving, in my opinion. Bill |

Which e-mail provider are you talking about?
As an example, GMail doesn't purge messages that were deleted via POP3, instead it moves those messages to Trash. They remain in Trash for 30 days. |
