new account if on different device, skip mobile numb?

There were or are a small number of YouTube videos about telling a user could make any Google/GMail account and be able to skip putting in mobile number, IF the user creates the account on specifically a device which was never yet used for creating a Google or GMail account. Them some commenters said this does not work while others not as many said that this does work.

Most of us do not have enough capital to test this to see if it works. Does anyone here know?

I was able to create a gmail account on my iPhone. I just went to youtube app on phone and created an email account. Didn't ask for phone number. I was able to make 2 new gmails on the same phone within a few days.

Thumbs down

I tried to create a new acct yesterdday and it wanted a phone number....

I do not have one......

Maybe it doesnt ask for a mobile number FROM A MOBILE DEVICE??

I wonder if changing ones UA to look like a mobile device would get around that??

I have begun to believe, that is by design.

Well it can be done in the reg easily.......

Like I would goto this key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent

And I would enter a mobile BROWSER string and it may work. (Depending on how deep they check)

Yes it is interesting......

EDIT:

Heres a list of UAs!!

It may be possible in the browser itself. Goto about:config, search on useragent.
